Laser tattoo removal - Sun Exposure

Golden Rule - Sun Exposure If you are considering laser or IPL treatment, you ideally must have zero sun exposure up to 6 weeks prior to and during the treatment. The light energy from the laser or IPL is attracted to pigment, that means tattoo ink, hair follicles, skin pigment (freckles, birthmarks, melasma, rosacea, vascular lesions...) and of course melanin. Melanin is produced in the skin after sun exposure (tan). Even if you don't tan, the melanocytes in the skin will still produce this stuff and will then absorb any light energy from laser or IPL.
