Hair removal over tattooed areas
WARNING !
Hair removal using IPL or Laser over a tattoo area will burn and blister the underlying skin and severely scar.
Tattoo removal requires a Q switched laser which creates a Nanosecond (one billionth of a second) pulse of light energy.
This will shatter the ink molecules, then the body can flush the finer ink particles away. Minimal heat is generated.
IPL and Laser used for hair removal uses a longer pulse of light energy. This extra long pulse produces more heat, which is needed to destroy the hair follicle.
When the a tattoo ink is hit with IPL, it absorbs too much energy, generating too much heat and the surrounding skin is "cooked"...... blisters, scar !
Please remind your beauty therapist of this fact, regardless.
