Anaesthetic gels and skin treatments

The use of anaesthetic gels in Laser tattoo removal and other non invasive skin treatments, needs to be treated with caution. There is a remote possibility of an adverse reaction or overdose to the Lidocaine / prilocaine in the gel. Any sign of the following _ nervousness, tingling around the mouth (also known as circumoral paraesthesia ), tinnitus , tremor, dizziness, blurred vision, seizures followed by depression, drowsiness, loss of consciousness, respiratory depression and apnoea . Always apply the gel in the clinic, insist the client remain there for the hour and keep a watchful eye on the client. Paul www.doffandflux.com.au

Laser Tattoo Removal - TIPS by Doff&Flux

The most common questions.  1. Does it hurt? Yes, of corse it hurts, a lot. Although with a topical numbing cream and ice during the procedure its manageable.  2. Is it expensive?  It Can be, the bigger the tattoo the more it will cost. Do your research and get a few quotes before committing to a clinic  3. Will it leave a scar? No, if you practitioner, is knowledgeable with the laser they are using and you care for it after you will not have scaring, the after care is nearly as important as the procedure its self.  Things to expect and a few more tips - You may swell depending on the size of the area you are treating, for a large surface like a sleeve or leg I would strongly recommend to break it down into two sessions per tattoo. - You will/ may blister especially with coloured ink and they will/ may be huge and painful. This is normal and is your bodies natural reaction to the "trama" essentially it just experienced. Do not pop them, the longer they can heal ...

Wrist and scalp tattoos .... Removal is Tough!

Removing or fading tattoos from inside the wrist or the scalp seem to be quite difficult. Perhaps the skin type has everything to do with that....its not as soft and fatty... not sure why that would effect the effectiveness of the laser treatment. Stay tuned ... I'll look into it. Or if you have any ideas let me know. Paul paul@doffandflux.com.au www.doffandflux.com.au

Laser tattoo removal and Roaccutane

Roaccutane or  Isotretinoin  is currently the standard care for the treatment of severe, scarring cystic acne. The most common adverse effects are a transient worsening of acne (lasting 2–3 weeks), dry lips ( cheilitis ), dry skin, and a propensity to sunburn easily, due to the skin being more photosensitive. Roaccutane is a absolute contraindication for any laser treatments including Laser tattoo removal. Unfortunately  the Q-switched laser can be ablative on the skin of someone taking roaccutane . Roaccutane increases cell mitosis and may compromise wound healing especially required for tattoo removal.  The patient needs to be off medication for one year prior to commencing treatments.   www.doffandflux.com.au

Hair removal over tattooed areas

WARNING ! Hair removal using IPL or Laser over a tattoo area will burn and blister the underlying skin and severely scar. Tattoo removal requires a Q switched laser which creates a Nanosecond (one billionth of a second) pulse of light energy. This will shatter the ink molecules, then the body can flush the finer ink particles away. Minimal heat is generated. IPL and Laser used for hair removal use s a longer pulse of light energy. This extra long pulse produces more heat, which is needed to destroy the hair follicle. When the a tattoo ink is hit with IPL, it absorbs too much energy, generating too much heat and the surrounding skin is "cooked"...... blisters, scar ! Please remind your beauty therapist of this fact, regardless. Paul www.doffandflux.com.au

How many treatments will it take to remove my tattoo?

Each person is unique as their tattoo, but most professional tattoos take 5 to 8 treatments. Home made tattoos take 1 to 4 treatments. Laser sessions are spaced out 6 weeks apart or longer. The number of treatments depends on the amount of ink used, type of ink, depth of ink placed in skin, location, age, colors, and each person’s individual health considerations. The Fotona QX max Laser  is the most powerful, best made laser system in the world, decreasing your treatment sesions to half most other laser out there. www.doffandflux.com.au
